About us

The SHaREducation network is built and sustained by a collaboration of six universities, including the University of Eastern Finland, the University of Jyväskylä, the University of Oulu, the Tampere University, the University of Turku and the Åbo Academi University. The network and collaboration among health care educators already started in the year 2000 and further widened in 2017 with the TerOpe-project. The network was strengthened by including social-, health care and rehabilitation educators.

The project included four stages I – IV.

I. STAGE

NATIONAL SOCIAL- HEALTH CARE AND REHABILITATION EDUCATORS’ COMPETENCE

The definition of educators’ competence was conducted by completing multiple studies including two systematic reviews, interviewing of educators, development of an instrument and measuring of educators’ competence in Finland, development of a model and integrating of the model into the national curriculum.

II. STAGE

CONTINUOUS EDUCATION MODEL

Developing of a continuous education model, interviewing of novice and experienced educators, development of an instrument and identifying of educators’ continuous education needs, testing of the model for continuous education.

III. STAGE

DIGITAL COURSE

Description of a digital learning intervention for educators, development of a digital learning course with learning materials, testing of the effect of the course upon educators’ competence.

IV. STAGE

SHaREducation NETWORK

Development of a digital environment for social-, health care and rehabilitation educators’ international network. The digital study materials and teaching technology can be utilized in both degree programme education and continuous education as well as in education export.
